Animal scientists at Basis Level
Our Basis Level students experienced this week how it feels like to be an animal scientist. Together with the class mascot Carlchen they searched for snails on the playground. In class they made assumptions about the snails’ nourishment, the way they crawl, their sense of smell and hearing. By doing little experiments, questions were answered such as: -Can a snail crawl backwards? -Can it feel wind? -Can a snail crawl up a blackboard? -Do snails smell garlic? Surprisingly, the snails even ate Bologna from the “Pausenbrot” sale during an experiment. The students enjoyed the snail race and gathered a lot of knowledge about snails. They learned by using their head, heart and hands. In the end, everyone was a little bit sad when they brought their little pets back to nature.
