On May 10 and 11, 2025, the “BGPU Dortmund Football Carnival” took place in Bangkok – a top-level U15 tournament featuring 16 teams and over 300 young talents. Borussia Dortmund was present not only as a partner but also fielded its own team: the BVB International Academy Thailand of RIS Swiss Section – Deutschsprachige Schule Bangkok. The team stood out for its dedication, passion, and fair play.
The tournament provided a professional platform for the players to compete and gain valuable match experience at a high level. Matches were played in an 11-a-side format, starting with a group stage followed by a knockout round. A special highlight of the tournament was the opportunity for five outstanding individual players to earn a one-week training program at the BVB Academy in Dortmund – a powerful statement in support of international talent development.
In the group stage, the BVB team competed against Bangkok Metropolitan, Suankularb Wittayalai, and Municipal Secondary School 6 Udon Thani. During the crossover phase, they played against Wat Na Wong and Assumption College Sriracha. The team gained valuable experience – both on the pitch and through interpersonal exchanges with teams from across Thailand.
Participating in this high-caliber tournament was part of BVB’s growing presence in Asia and a strong example of the value of long-term partnerships in youth football. The event highlighted the club’s strategic approach of collaborating across cultural boundaries with schools, academies, and football communities – with the aim of supporting the athletic and personal development of children and young people worldwide. The tournament offered the young players not only exciting competition but also valuable insights into professional football.
