Return of the sports day at RIS Swiss Section! After a three-year break, the popular sports day took place on 11 May at various sports facilities across the campus.
As usual, an exciting program had been put together by the PE team. The primary school students competed in an athletics triathlon with long jump, sprint and ball long throw as well as a fun parkours on the Swiss Section sports field. Students on secondary level came together in five mixed-age teams to compete in softball, ultimate frisbee, swimming relay races and badminton.
Unfortunately, the weather gods were a bit overzealous when it came to cooling things down on this very hot day. The highlight of the day, the age-mixed relay race, scheduled after the lunch break, had to be cancelled due to a heavy thunderstorm.
So, students and visitors came together a bit earlier than planned for the closing ceremony in the sports hall, where the most successful students and teams were proudly presented with their awards and prizes.
The students and parent visitors thoroughly enjoyed the day, and we thank Sebastian Pielbusch, Pascal Heuberger and the PE teachers for the organization of this event and all the staff members and teachers for their support. A special thanks goes to Fam. Kraus who sponsored a whole freezer full of delicious ice cream on this special day!
